Jennuine Designs Haven Acres Mini Collection Pattern Tour + Tutorial!

Do you like sweet girl clothes? Then the new Haven Acres Mini Collection by Jennuine Designs (affiliate link) is just perfect for you. When I saw the tester call I just had to try to get onboard as the three patterns are just too cute. The last weeks we have been super busy testing the leggings, blouse and cap and I think that the different results are really stunning.

The three patterns are inspired by horse riding fashion and are perfect to make some stylish clothes. The Dressage Leggings (affiliate link) have an amazing fit. They feature a seperate waistband and the pattern includes both a basic version and one with panels in the front and back (my version here is a mix of both and added flat piping; read till the end for a tutorial!).

The Haven Acres Blouse (affiliate link) pattern includes both long and short sleeves and several closure options (tie, button). The version for the babies includes a button placket in the back for easy dressing. Isn't that cute little flounce just too sweet? The final version is slightly different to my version here. The neckline isn't as wide and the bodice is a little bit longer. When Jennifer saw me use my precious Nani Iro fabric in an early testing round, she was a bit shocked, but I really like the result. It might be not as perfect as the final version of the pattern, but it still is a super beautiful blouse that my daughter will get lots of use from!

Last, but not least the Sweet Pea Cap (affiliate link) is inspired by riding helmets and the two little pony ears make it perfect for all little girls (or leave them off and you have the perfect Sherlock Holmes hat!). My girl got all goofy when I tried to take some pics of the cap, too. Well, these here will have to do ;) Also: I'm really missing the sun! We have 40cm of snow, it's cold and cloudy. No way to get nice pictures. So if you have some sunrays to spare, please send them over to me here in Germany!

The Pattern Tour runs until tomorrow. If you want to buy one or more of the patterns, hurry up, cause they are currently 20% reduced (affiliate link)!

And, now, let's have some fun with a nice tutorial, shall we?

 1. Cut your pieces. You will have to trace your basic leggings pattern piece. Put this on top of the middle panel pattern piece alining the curves at the waist, hem and hips. Trace the back according to the middle panel pattern piece to your basic leggings pattern. Cut; also cut your back panel pattern piece. Cut your fabric. In addition to the normal pieces, you will need a long strip of jersey (4.5cm or 1 3/4" wide) for the piping.
2. As we want to do piping, we will have to change the construction of the leggings for a nice result. Pin and sew your crotch seams of the back panel pieces and the main pieces.
3.You should have this now!

1. Schnittteile zuschneiden.
3. Das sollte dann so ausschauen.

4 and 5. Fold your jersey strips right sides together lengthwise. Pin piping  to back panel matching all three raw edges.
6. Sew piping to back panel using a stretch stitch and a seam allowance of 1cm, 3/8".

7. Piping as sewn to back panel.
8. and 9. Pin and sew back panel to main piece, matching crotch seam and notches.

10. Here I just want to show you that my seam is too close to the edge of the piping. I just unpicked and restitched the part between the two pins.
11. That's what you should have now.
12. Topstitch your seam. I chose to have the piping lay on the back panels.

13. Lay your leggings right sides together and sew front crotch seam.
Then lay your leggings flat (so that the two legs show) and sew inside seam matching the crotch seams (sorry i forgot to take a picture of this step).
14. and 15. Finished leggings after attaching the waistband.

  4. I love all three items, the leggings are so fun to look at. Does it not bother her if she sits on the pipping?
